i signed up for their plumbing course in febuary this year under the illusion of getting a plumbing qualification,c &g 6129.i have currently finished 7 modules... i believe i was mis sold this course as i was told i would be able to gain a c&g but have found out this is not the case, also i was told (by the rep/salesman)i would get my expenses paid for when i go on my practical courses ,just found out i will get £30 per day for fuel and accomodation but where i live(highlands of scotland) that would not even cover the fuel.i was also told i would be able to start my practical sessions after module 12,while this is the case what i wasnt told was i would have to pay nearly £1700 before i could go on the 1st practical....and paying further sums before the next sessions. so the whole course would take 3 years not the 18 months i was led to believe. i was also led to believe i was paying for the course £110 per month which i didnt mind but i do mind the fact that i have found out i now have a £4000 loan which i dont want ....... i have written to t4ts 2 times now stating that i no longer wish to do their course for the above reasons in more detail, plus a few more(my work load has dramaticly increased over the last few months and is set to continue at the current rate for the next year or so ,so i feel i cant combine my work with studying without my work suffering which i am not prepared to do) ,also i have cancelled my direct debit with Barcleys partner finance..... they(t4ts) have replied that they want me to continue with the course which i dont want, any advice on where i stand and what i should do next would be greatly appreciated.........ps.....i stated in both my letters to T4TS that if no solution is found i would turn this affair over to my lawyer, is this the best course of action or am i being over dramatic......

consult your lawyer.

and another one bites the dust....its happening to more than you. search the forum.

did you research into what qualifications are required to work as a plumber in scotland?.

No formal qualifications are needed to work as a plumber anywhere in the UK but if you want to be taken seriously or get a job SVQ3 is the minimum that would be acceptable in Scotland and even with that you would find it hard to be accepted initially.

Unfortunately most people think this trade is a way to riches and a great working life away from the humdrum of offices or factories or whatever place they are stuck it.
IT IS NOT.

You have been blinded by sales talk and probably did very little research on what you were signing up for. Mis sold? How can you (or anyone) not know you are signing up for a 4 grand loan?
Good luck but i wouldn't hold out too much hope unless you have deep pockets.
At the very least you have learned something.
Never believe a salesman and always read before you sign.

Hi Pepsi.
I enrolled on the same course in April this year.
I phoned them and they did say that some T&Cs did say that £1700 had to be "Paid up so far" before doing the practical.

He did say that this has now been removed and suggested I checked MY agreement.

I cannot see anything on mine about this advancement.

I clearly remember saying to the "salesperson" that I wanted to finish this course as quickly as possible and he could see no problem with this. He said it was a three year "interest free credit agreement/loan" but didnt have to pay it back even if I finished the course in 12 months.

Might be worth reading your T&Cs

regards
Andy
