With 1/2" lever head basin taps & 3/4" lever head bath taps, is the difference being the valves [1/2"...3/4"] or the Tap heads? Thanks

well both on 3/4 are a bit bigger

The 3/4" are biggger than the 1/2".

Underneath the stem threads are two different sizes as well, one is 1/2" Britsh Standard Pipe Thread and the other is 3/4" bspt.

So its part of the tap however do the actual tap valves differ, if so how? thanks for your time

The 1/2" and 3/4" is the valve/tap body size,thus you will have 1/2" or 3/4" space for water to flow through valve or tap,which is why 3/4" better for low pressure systems
It is not the size of the tap head or the thread the tap head screws into when fitted into the valve or tap body

no reason why not ,as long as it fits through the hole in the basin

Often on really large basins,some bath taps look better and more in proportion
