Hi,
Would anyone know what thread type is on a 10mm compression fitting, i.e. the threaded part onto which the compression nut tightens? I need to attach the fitting to a thick aluminium plate (the sump of a small engine) so need to tap a hole to screw the fitting into. From my own measurements it seems to be M14 but I didn't want to purchase a tap only to find it was the wrong sort! If anyone has done this or something similar any information would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Andy

Possibly, though I would prefer the compression fitting as there is limited space. I need the pipe coming off the connector at a right angle, which is much easier to do with only one right angle connector as opposed to a male iron then a right angle connector. That method would work in most situations but here I really do need the right angle connector. But thank you for the suggestion.

He means use one of these

Compression Male Iron Elbow 10mm x 1/4"

Ah right, ok then, that will work! I'll do that. Thank you both.
(By the way, I think the thread type for a 10mm compression fitting is M14 x 1.25 in case anyone else might need to know.)
