Hi everyone,

I know a lot of people don't clean their tools or look after them that well (going off what I have seen) but some people do. If you do what's the best way to do it? I have started to see light rust on some of mine, it rubs off easily enough but can't be a good thing. I was thinking a clean up then a light coat of wd40? Would that be alright? This is just for general tools in my tray, screwdrivers, hammer etc.

Thanks

Ash I give my oft used tolls a rub and a spray down with wd40 every week and its kept them rust free and in tip top condition for last three years no problems

I give mine a spray with silicone spray and it lubricates them, cleans them and water proofs them against rust.

Watch inhaling the spray from WD40 as it's reputed to cause cancer.

* Useless piece of info....WD40 is an abbreviation of Water Displacement 40. The number 40 comes from the amount of times it took the maker to get it right.

I never clean mine, never feel the need. I spray my movables, pump pliers and pipe slicers when they feel stiff. I renew my drivers every year or so because they wear out. And change my pump pliers when I'm losing to much skin of my knuckles.

Don't use wd on adjustables its too viscous. Use a bit of 3 in 1 oil it will keep the wheel turning free and easy much longer. 🙂
