totally shocking day

had a call from old guy to look at loose wiring on his heating an price to sort it out , happens he has dimentia.
when i got to property, it was a warden aided sheltered apartments. as i was walking through his door i thout they was all on comunial systems but there you go, one duotec on the wall.


it had a plug top on it and was switched off at socket.
thought the wire hanging down a bit dogy (tested it but had no imediate power)! and there was a box on top with honeywell controls in it. so they had not been wired in. i flicked the switch and there you go, hot water no heat control!. there was no bench mark in the paper work and the old chap told me they put it in 1-1/2weeks ago!!.

curiously, i chased this wire to a cupboard which was were the old cylinder was and found this 2'' from the guys mop bucket handle!!!! i was gobsmacked as i was close to touching it also:veryangry2:


whoever installed the boiler didnt even bother to trip the fuse switch (which is out of reach of tenant), what a moron!.
turned of gas at boiler, took out cable to switched supply and tripped fuse. i got hold of manager and she is livid but sorting it out now with contractors.
so, if the muppet who works for nottm city homes who last worked on this happens to read this...your a liability & a tw4t:veryangry2:

i have a sleepless night if i leave to wires twisted together and taped inside an enclosuure because i was a connector short and it was only over night and i wanted to get the boiler running

Irrelevant to the original post, but I've got a job on tomorrow to recipe a outside tap from the garage to outside as the fella that undercut us installed it so that you have to connect the filling loop every time you want to use the outside tap

no bonding either!

first thing i did was look for the commisioning log-nothing!. boiler connected to supply after a week and a half and not comm'ed is bad enough let alone the wiring.
felt sorry for the old guy (about 6 stone and croppies height), he kept asking is it safe, have i got hot water and heating?.
bless him! only charged the old dear £30 to cover me costs.
