anyone had any problems with putting the valve tails into bottom of towel rads?

customer got the towel rad from b&q, when screwing in the tails for the valves they seemed to tighten in to far so the spanner hardly grips and they seemed a bit loose. i couldnt get them tight.

took them back out and put on more ptfee but still weeping a bit, customer is going to change rad on monday.

never had this problem before🙁

Yup, had this happen with one of the DIY towel rails, there are only a couple of threads as the gauge is quite thin on the tappings, you are better off making joint the old fasioned way with hemp & boss white.

I have stopped using ptfe i use locktite 55 never had a leak and you can back off the fitting

ive found the valves with the rubber seal on like a rad plug or vent are best for towel rails as they seal against the outside rather than on the nonexistent thread
