I recently fitted a towel rail, theres a slight weep on one of the tails, when I tried to remove the trail it started to tighten up
Any ideas on why, I don't want to damage the towel rail in removing the tail but its got to come out

I would say cross threaded I had it once ended up having to junk the rail and bought a better quality rad

for a definate seal on cheap towel rails i try to get the valves with the flange and rubber seal like an airvent /plug seal when did you last have a new airvent leak?

Could be a cheapy rail with only two badly cut threads on each tapping, and the tape you used has knotted up on the thread as its coming back out, eat another shredded wheat and try again:smile5:

If it's aluminium, it could have a left hand thread . Usually denoted by a groove round the outside part of the nut. Pretty unlikely I know, but I remember wrecking one a few years ago by unscrewing it the wrong way.

I put plenty of wraps on and a smear of lsx,
I think its just a cheap rad, I've had a problem with nearly everything that was ordered

you only get a small amonut of thread with most towel rads, and they are normally a pain due to poor quality engineering i find. its all about the look and nowt about the build with these things.

True but for the inconvenience of using a tail with an o ring i don't mind paying 60 quid.
I remember when ladder towel rails were 2 or 3 hundred 25 years ago.

the value is in the wallet of the buyer 😉

I once fitted a gold myson one for a woman. It cost around £650 and looked naff but her married man on the side was paying.
She just had expensive tastes but also absolutely huge thrupeny bits so he must have thought she was worth it
