Tribune Classic Hot Water System Query??

Hi There,
First post, but, I have the above system, which i inherited when i moved into the house. The system seems to be regulated by a fixed 2.1 bar regulator (also made by Tribune) fitted onto the mains inlet pipe (not the tank), so the whole water pressure of the house is governed by this regulator. What I'd really like to know is, is the regulator an integral part of the hot water system and can i (safely) exchange the regulator for a variable type. I seem to remember the previous house owner saying that the last tank was replaced very early in it's life. Any advice really appreciated. I'm in the Derby area.

You do not say why you want to change way things are
As it is now it gives you even pressures through out the house on hot and cold,though showers and mixer taps,if you move nearer the tank and by pass cold taps ,you create uneven pressures at outlets and also if cold higher than hot,which it would be if moved , if you get any cross feed at out lets, the higher cold pressure could back up into your cylinder increasing cylinder pressure to undisirable levels ,causing safety devices to be operated
Even us plumbers do things for a reason sometimes 🙂

it came with the cylinder for a reason best leave well alone!!

Many thanks, probably leave alone. I'm renewing the bath/ shower etc, and wanted a better flow, but i suspect i'll have to live with it.
