Customer has called saying when they turn control to call for heat on their electric shower the shower trips the electric. Any ideas please chaps?

Could be loose terminal wires in the shower or in the pull switch. Check the cable, it should be 10mm all the way back to the main consumer box and terminate with a RCD. Check the filter in the shower isn't blocked as poor flow will activate the automatic cut off. Problem could also be a faulty shower unit itself, if all else fails fit a new one and make it 9.5kw minimum for a decent shower. A cheap but very good shower is the Triton Enrich.
You might have to get a spark to check all the electrical connections.

My dad who's a plumber had one actually melt. But it didn't have a trip fuse, turns out the connections in the terminal block weren't made properly. I've noticed now when I fit one theres a warning about this on the connecting strip. Check that first.
