One rider killed in practice .

Japanese rider Yoshinari Matsu****a has been killed in tonight's practice session. Manx Radio recieved this statement from the Auto-Cycle Union:

ACU Events Ltd regrets to announce that Japanese rider Yoshinari Matsu****a, 43, was killed during the qualifying session at the 2013 Isle of Man TT Races in an incident at Ballacrye in the North of the Island. The session was immediately red flagged following the accident.

Yoshinari, from Saitama in Japan was an experienced racer who first competed at the TT Races in 2009. As well as competing regularly in the Superstock and Superbike classes he also finished 5th in the 2011 TT Zero for electric bikes. He was also 2008 Motegi Endurance race winner.

The ACU wishes to pass on their deepest sympathy to Yoshinari’s family and friends.

Gary Thompson, MBE, Clerk of the Course, ACU, commented:

“Yoshi was a really popular competitor who had a large number of friends in the TT Races paddock. He was a genuine and friendly character who always had time for everyone. He will be sorely missed.”

The Coroner of Inquests has been informed and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.

RIP

A very dangerous pastime and all of the participants are well aware of the risks.

The guy was unlucky but should be lauded for his his courage to participate in the excitement and adrenaline rush.

I used to race bikes many years ago and still suffer the consequences of a few mistakes.

Respect Fella! RIP.

Really! What did you race? I did moto x and that hurt when you made a mistake.

The only positive is that he went out doing what I'm sure he loved, but at the age of 43 still too young to go

RIP!

Its no small wonder we all walk round like rasberries if we raced bikes and kneel down for a living..........i had a strange magnetism for chestnut fencing.........managed to find it at least once a meeting.

I did Lambretta's,
Tuned, modified and specials.
Hurt myself at Lyddon Hill, again doing hillclimb in Romford and really went ouch at Castle Coombe.
I do miss the aroma of Castrol R.

"R"....your showing your age now fella

Indeed I am, but what wonderful, exciting and dangerous adventures me and my kindred spirits enjoyed.
The pains I feel every day remind me of what I once got up to.

Given the choice, would I have changed anything, not a chance.

Lets hope it's the first and last this year. It's a big price to pay for doing something you enjoy. I saw at least 3 die at meetings I raced at. We carried on because we knew that's what they would want. The rewards for the few successful ones can be great, but the ones who pay the ultimate price will never be forgotten. RIP.

Racers are a certain breed, if you haven't raced, you wouldn't understant....sounds like a cliche but its true.....stopped quite a while ago now but still getting the urge. My mate i raced with keeps sayin we should go and watch but i know exactly what will happen when he gives me that "i wanna race" look

Take it easy on the mountain zeb......i should have been going, but mr revenue and customs has had my pants round me ankles.
