Hi. This may be a silly question but here goes anyway ! Is it cheaper to turn the boiler up (worcester highflow 400 ) or turn the individual radiators up ?The numbers on the boiler go from 1-5 and so do the radiators. Would ,say, No.5 on boiler and 2 on radiator be cheaper ( or warmer ) than 2 on boiler and 5 on radiator ? Thanks.

Both numbers refer to temperatures; the higher the number, the higher the temperature.

The highflow numbers are the temperature of the water circulating through the radiators; the radiator numbers (I assume you have TRVs) refer to the room temperature - 3 to 4 will be approx 20C.

You set the TRV so the room is as warm as you require and then leave it alone. The TRV will automatically open and close to maintain the required temperature.

Boiler temperature can be adjusted (higher when cold, lower when cooler), but it's normally better to leave it on a high setting and let the room thermostat do its job (You do have a room thermostat, don't you??)

No room thermostat just settings on each individual radiators. Does it use more gas if the boiler is on a high setting though ?

the boiler will use more gas heating the water to the preset temperature however it will not need to heat the water for as long to bring your home upto tenp. if you want to save gas get a room thermostat.
