I have a Worcester Bosch 400 RSF boiler providing hot water and heating.

The hot water tap at the kitchen has stopped working which I think may be the washer that needs replacing. I cannot see anything to turn off the water supply to the tap ie under the sink etc. If I turn off the water at the main stopcock in the garage then presumably when I dismantle the tap, hot water is going to shoot out until the system is drained. Or is there anything on the boiler that I can turn/press etc that cuts the water supply to the taps whilst I do the job? If I have to drain the system, once I've replaced the washer do I just refill the system using the loop until the correct pressure is achieved?

Sorry - probably very basic but help/guidance would be appreciated.

Thnaks

It's a combi boiler so water is heated as it goes through the boiler. If you turn off the stop tap then this stops water flowing through the boiler.

When you undo the tap there might be some water but not much and most, if not all, should go down the sink. I'm talking about a tablespoon of water, so not much. If when you're undoing the tap there's more water than this then shout again and someone will pick up the thread.

That sounds very comforting. The tap is a mixer so any water would shoot sideways rather than down into the sink hence my apprehension. Thanks for your help.

After turning off the incomming mains feed just switch on the hot tap as normal to test if anything flows. If nothing comes out then you are free to dismantle.
