pauls

where im working at the moment there are a fair few unvented cylinders and the repair work im doing on them is anoying at times.

now and then i find a temp & prv that has been changed the original would have been on 22mm new valve on 15mm. what anoys me is in the past they have cut the pipework inserted 15mm pipe into the 22mm and tightened up on the nut and olive.

when ive questioned people why its been done like that and not had a reducer on and soldered up the reply was its only a drain for the water what harm can it do.

ive been thinking of a response as to why it shouldnt be done like that. but what problems, faults can it cause being left like it is

It has to be a certain size to remove the volume of water when blowing off pressure, if its a long run then upgrade the pipesize to suit.

yes im happy with that mate its putting a pice of 15mm pipe down the 22mm leaving an open end where the 15 enters the 22 im not to keen on.

thats what i do when i come across but the argument i have with the other guy is he says whats the problem with leaving it as it is. apart from looking crap and un-proffessional

You won the argument but perhaps lost the correcting work.

You did your job pointing out the irregularity and should feel satisfaction with that.

IMHO!!
