HI all

I have a very large house. 6 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and serving 18 radiators.

Currently have a Worcester Bosch Cdi28 which is 11 years old.

Part of the green deal, been offered a Vaillant Eco Tec Pro 28 but looking at the reviews, this is only suggested for small houses.

Will we be better or worse off doing the switch?

Many thanks

Both boilers are same output so your not going to better off in performance!

28kw combi seems small for any 6 bedroom 2 bathroom property! I would be looking at a highflow type combi, or vaillant 937 or system boiler type set up with seperate stored water.

If our going green deal then you probs have to accept whatever is on offer, and thrown in by a sub contractor. I would recommend you try a local firm.

Thanks gassafe. TBH, the performance is OK - its the bills.

By going green, if the bills are reduced slightly but the performance is the same - then i can live with that for now

Thanks for your help

Your being had. If you have six beds two baths I doubt your 'poor' so u won't be getting it done on grant scheme it will be off set against ur meter.

How it works in reality

Your house gets energy mot (epc)
Your old boiler is say band d combi
We install u a band a boiler and few trvs at an inflated cost ( 1.75 to five times cost) £3700
The energy difference between boilers £300 a year.

You gas bill stays same ( plus inflation and cost increases - based on unit consumption)
It then takes years to pay off boiler.

You would be much better paying cash for it to a local installer . The green deal has been stopped and started and stopped...... Now due for a relaunch. It's normally rogues !

837 or a Baxi 40kw. But best option would be solar thermal store & array on roof plus ideal logic 24kw system boiler.
