Vaillant ecoTEC 824 - simplest 30kW replacement?

Hi.

Looking to replace a 13-year old 824 with a new combi as its location is being moved, so seem like a good time to also replace. The new boiler needs to be more powerful - 30kW (as against 24kW?) - as the mains supply will also be upgraded.

The old 824 has actually had its pipes shifted to the new location, so ideally looking for the most direct swap possible. Plumbers back on Tuesday, so looking for the easiest boiler swap to 30kW. Any 'Vaillant' folks on here, who can point to a current model that'll slot directly in?

Is the 831 still available - it should be a direct swap?
And then there's the ecoTEC pro 28. Anyone know about these? Piping the same?

Can I ask why it needs to be a direct swap if the boiler is getting moved and have you tested the mains / water boards guess as you might not get enough

From what I understand, the old boiler has been moved, but not yet recommissioned (part of a larger kitchen refit). Advice is to have it replaced as it's old, hence looking for an 'exact' swap if possible.

Is the plus 831 still made? Or, will the pro 28/30 fit easily?

Nothing will be an exact swap

I would see how it goes as your paying twice for an install

The pro 28/30 might be - I don't know.

Yes the connection plaque is identical across the entire wall mounted boiler range.

Fab, thanks Chris - phew, a sensible move by a manufacturer (and obviously more likely to stick with the make). Cool - he's going for a Pro 28, so slightly more powerful.

EcoTEC Pro 28 now fitted, with - I understand - few moans from the GS, so assuming it was a pretty straight swap. 🙂
