Having no DHW and after doing the normal checks, I set about removing and de-scaling the HE on my Combimax. Several hours later and having refitted the unit I have plenty of hot water for the first time in years and the wife and kids are delighted.

I checked the heating and that works fine after having bled the rads. Now I find that on DHW demand there is a tricking noise coming from inside the boiler. I can only liken this noise to a header tank being refilled. It is only apparent when a hot water tap is turned on.

There is a small internal reservoir in the boiler and the sound is coming from that area. There are three pipes which appear to enter the reservoir - hot water in (from HE), hot water out, and another pipe from the boiler system water return. The system is running at 1.5barg and is pretty stable all of the time. There are no sounds from the rads or any other part of the system suggesting an air pocket - just this trickling noise inside the boiler. There are no leaks from the PRV's.

The whole system is working fine but this noise is driving me bonkers. Any ideas would be appreciated.
