Hi all

After reading the various problems that this particular wireless programer seems to suffer from I am wondering if an inability to set the timer for certain days is one of them?

I have followed the user guide to try to set different heating times for weekdays and the weekend, the user manual suggests that upon pressing the "p" (programing button) a menu containing the the heating period (H1 - H2 or H3) and also the days of the week should appear, unfortunately my one only brings up the H1 etc and times, no days of the week.

I have tried taking the batteries out to see if that makes a difference but to no avail, is this a common problem? Is there anyway around this or is it a call to Vaillant and a visit from a heating engineer?

Thanks for any help that you may be able to offer.

I've got this programmer, not very user friendly!

Press "P" once, the radiator symbol will appear in the top right of the display

Press the centre button of the click wheel, this selects the time period,H1,H2,etc.

Press the click wheel again, and the days of the week will start flashing, then turn the wheel, clockwise and it will cycle through the options for the days,5+2,or each day individually. When you've selected the day you want press the wheel again and set the time period. By clicking the centre of the wheel you can go through the menu and bring up the time periods again.

It's a very difficult programmer to describe face to face, let alone through text,so I hope that makes sense! I got it as an experiment with a view to start fitting them,I quickly decided against it. I fit Honeywell controls now, their programmable room stat is much easier to operate. Vaillant make good boilers, but that programmer needs some work!

This where my problems start, when I click the click wheel to select the days of the week it misses them out and goes straight onto the times, this is what makes me think that my stat has gone belly up?

Looks like the Honeywell maybe on the list

Thanks for the advice.

Already tried that and also performed a complete power down of both stat and bolier with no success.

Will try Vaillant in the morning as its still under warranty and if no luck then I guess its time to move onto something that actually does what it says on the tin.

Thanks again for your help.

UPDATE

The Vaillant engineer turned up today to attend to the programmer, he at first tried to tell me that there is no facility to distinguish between different days of the week......when I showed him the latest download from the Vaillant website he then changed his story to the old "I am waiting for a phone call" routine...He said that he would call me as soon as he had heard from whoever he was trying to contact, still waiting

Will update as and when.

Re: Vaillant VR61/2 and VRC470 upgrade and firing loop

Hello

This is my first post on this forum, sorry its not in the right place but could not see where to start a new topic
I have a Vaillant Eco tec 615 and unitSTOR which was installed in 2006.

Valiant recently advised me to upgrade my old controls (VRC400 and VR65) to enable me to add a second heating circuit, in this case an new UFH circuit.

I have bought the following; VR61/2 and VRC470. The VR81/2 roomstat will be added to the boiler BUS controls when it finally arrives. This roomstat will call the hot water for the UFH mixing valve and pump.

Even with some conflicting advice from the Vaillant tech line I struggled with figuring out how to wire up the control centre as the terminolgy and labels have changes since 2006.
E.g CH connection in the control center is now LP/ZP. The other one, DHW is now HK1. Both of these are connected to two -2 way motorised valves.

The other change is that the VR10 sensor instead of being wired into the VR65 is now wired into the boiler. The other end of the VR10 is connected to the uniSTOR cylinder.

Having switched on it all seemed fine and new 470 controller said status is ‘OK’. However the problem is the boiler keeps charging, firing for less than 30seconds and once it heats to 46 degrees it stops. It is repeating this cycle every minute which does not seem right at all. Also one of the valves in the lofts keeps getting activated as well by the control panel.
However the heating is on and we have hot water.

Is this something I can change in the set up menu on the 470 boiler control panel or a part that is worn out or even not compatible??

Any advice appreciated.
