Hi All...

Looking for a little advice.
Recently had a Vaillant VRT392f fitted into my ecoTEC 831 to replace the standard room stat, however despite it seeming to be the muts nuts I am havign a strange issue with it...

99% of the time it works like a treat, however once in a while the boiler seems to act like the VRT392f is not there anymore and defaults to turnign the heating on and running away quite happily turnign the house into an oven.

This happened at about 01:00 this morning. When I looked at the settings for the heating on the VRT392 it confirmed that both the heating and ho****er were in "night mode" and despite the "set back" temperature havign been set to 16 degrees the stat reported that the boiler was in "Auto" and a target temp of "24 degrees".

After scrolling right through the settigns I manually adjusted the target temp to 16 degrees and all has been fine since.

Dont suppose anyone has got any ideas what coudl be causing this? Accordign to the stat the signal strength is at 7 so shoudl be fine.
I am gonna swap the batteries tonight just in case.

Thanks in advance for any help...

Cheers

Carl.

Hi, I have just got a 392F for my Vaillant eco pro 28.
I am not happy with the 392F controller at all:
Can't see if the boiler is on or not, and cant easily turn it off when I go out, or turn it on when I come home!
Going to make a general post about it too, but judging by zero response to your post in October, it doesnt look like anybody here has any knowledge on these controllers!

Hi Ian,

I had just about got used to mine but it keeps playing up once every so often. Came home the other day and the house was liek a sauna. The 392F had lost comms to the boiler again so i ripped it out and fitted a wired 392 stat, it works like a treat now...

That said you still cant tell if there is any heating or hot water demand without looking at the boiler...

I had the same problem. For me, the issue was the faulty unit was draining the batteries. Apparently, when the batteries go dead the unit is programmed to turn on constantly to minimise risk of being without heat! Sounds dubious to me but that is what I was told. I had to have the whole thing replaced. Now the only issue is that every now and then, the unit reboots for some reason and the language is reset to German!! I hate this unit!
