Hi all. I'm now about to make a jump to a new van. After having lots of nightmares with my existing one - doors and bonnets dropping off amongst other things, I'm thinking of going new.

Does anyone have any experience of taking out lease finance and can you recommend any good companies to go with? The new Renault Master seems to get pretty good reviews and is priced pretty cheaply at £305 a month for a 5 year lease. I'm thinking of getting the LWB and Hi Roof version as I (might) use it outside of work too!

I was amazed at how cheap insurance is, I'm paying £300 a year TPFT for an old rustbucket, a brand new van is only £150 more for fully comp.

im looking at vans also at the moment, what van did you have ? I'm thinking of getting a Vivaro 2nd hand but still not quite sure what to get yet !

i have the vivaro , but would suggest you look at the gear box history . as in has it been replaced the older one like my 52 plate were prone to problems other then that i would not be without mine , course above that in the number one spot , is the daddy , the bees knees , the dogs testicles my beloved landie hmmmmmmmmmm

well i'm looking at the vivaro or similar, would be getting 54 onwards and I think my max mileage would be around 90,000

my astras dieing as well saving hard for a decent defender but as anyone on here will tell you they cost considerably more than a van they aint cheap

My Vivaro had a new engine at 19k miles due to a failed water pump (covered by the warranty) and new injectors at £800 2 weeks ago. Apart from that it is a decent van but i prefer the Transit.
Never had one on a lease so can't comment. You can get a new Nissan (vivaro thing whatever it is called) for around 10 and a half if you shop around. My mate just got one last week and it has its first dent already!

Just a thought guys, may save you some cash. If you're setup as a Ltd company you can buy vans direct from any of the people who do contract hire/leasing etc. They all get new vans at significantly lower than the retail price. The wholesale price for Renault vans for instance (I know they are French) is around 40% off the retail price. You will get a large discount on a new van if you buy from these people. Definitely don't pay anywhere near retail price if you buy new.

I'm looking at a new Renault Master LWB Hi-Roof, OTT for plumbing but I'm in a band too so it's very handy for that! New (inc. VAT) is £19k, list price is around £25k. Takes a large hit out of buying a new van. With the contract hire they service it and everything and at the end of the hire period you get another new van. It's going to cost me around £4k a year including fully comp insurance basically, which I don't think is bad for a large van that size. Service intervals are every 25k.

I know Renault get some rubbish for gearboxes, but the one I'm just getting rid of is 10 years old and hasn't had any major work done.

Does anyone want a 52 plate Renault Master, all kitted out with roof rack, 2x pipe carriers and ex-British Gas racking/work table inside? 54k on the clock, looking for something in the region of 2.5k 🙂

well somehow i can't edit my post ?

but anyway lol just realised your talking about the van your having alot of problems with lol, so maybe not 😛

Yah it was a joke tbh 🙂

I wouldn't offload it onto anyone on these forums, as I said 2 doors have dropped off on people's drives and a few other faults. All been quite amusing!
