I dont know whether or not a "boomph" noise with the boiler casing moving a little on ignition is normal for these boilers......if there could be a fault can you point me towards the possibilities? If this is the way these boilers sound? Just noticed this the other day as its in the garage.

A bit like when when an old cast iron Potterton Kingfisher would come to life with a "BOOOOMPH" but not as loud. The kitchen floor would shake when these ones came on. Previous boiler was a modern Vaillant which did not make any such noises on firing.

BErtle,

defo NOT normal, as SGI says , turn in off. How old is it ? still under warranty maybe

I have switched it off as suggested. Any ideas of a likely fault? Yes, still under warranty - Viessmann come to look at, or installer?
Bertle.

First call would be Viessmann, but I know they will say ' ask your installer to go have a look first ' lol.
I have a good idea what it may be , but please post back when they sort it. It's always handy to know specific faults.

Explosive ignition, boring on the gas boilers but something to behold on the oil ones. Especially with a faulty stem.

Diagnosed as needing air-gas ratio fine tuned. This will be done by the manufacturer who has the specialist kit to do this. thanks for all advice,
Bertle

As safegas says who told you that, its under warranty and even if it wasn't just get someone in qualified please.

Seen to by the Viesmmann trained installer. Whilst on phone to Viessmann and with boiler they asked installer not to touch it further and that they will come and investigate/fine tune the air-gas ratio settings. Thanks for all of the advice,

Bertle.

Viessmann have inspected the boiler. They replaced lots of stuff. Problem sorted. Now thats service!

that all doest speaks for the quality and reliability of boiler , but engineers knowledge .As far as I know they dont have there own engineers but they used third party engineers

They do have there own men, we have a Viessmann only guy up here, but also use subbies.
its a strange one this , I have fitted their open vent's but never the 35 kW one.
