Hello all,

Can anyone tell me if the wall hang pan can be fitted without having to buy the metal frame?

Thanks

May we ask why you want to

It can be done but if needs must but if you are just thinking of savings, you can get a metal frame from £150 and worth its weight in gold, minimises movement and keeps nice and stable, also has brackets to hold soil and flush pipes

Yes,

I am a carpenter, I have many plumber friends, some say yes and some say no etc. When I see the frame I think that I can make one from 4x2 timber as strong as. I needed for my bathroom because I got the pan from ebay (@ very good price). Is not about the savings, I just want opinions from the forum.

Well as said you can make from timber if you wish and make support for soil and flush pipe so hold tight so removal and refit easier.Fixed well to wall
One important thing is to fit metal plates on each side of the timber frame, were the metal studs go through to support w/c pan,to increase stress surface area,as if you use only washers the movement and stress from pan will loosen metal stud through timber, thus pan
Metal frames work out cheaper if you take the labour content of making a good timber support but if you are the labour, that does not matter

Thanks Mate,

I am sorry maybe I post the thread in the wrong forum but I am new here and I will respect the post thread forums in the future. Thank you for your reply and advise.

we used to fit them without the frame but we normally had a brick wall behind the studwork and rawlbolt the studding into the wall then nuts and steel square washers either side of the studwork you could do similar onto a studwall by bridging a couple of studs with 3x2 with the studding bolted to that hope this makes sense i must learn how to do diagrams on a computer
