does the pipe for washing machines need to be mains or can i use the supply from the storage tank

yes i would normally use mains but the position of the machine means that its a long route needed to do so there is a bathroom next to where they want the machine located with a cold water supply which is pumped so i wondered if i could branch of that rather than using mains

Our house is fed entirely by the cwcs and pressure (0.5 bar approx) and flow rates (6 l/min approx) are useless. Despite this, we've never had a problem with either the dishwasher or washing machine.

tbh the pressure seems okay but then if the washing machine a tap and the toilets flushed at the one time would it not cause potential pressure loss ? and possibly as said above have adverse effects on the solenoid . If this happened the customer would obviously blame me even if i do explain it first

Definite danger of pressure being too low if other taps etc are used in conjunction with washing machine. I would explain all to the customer and it is then their decision whether to go with the cheaper alternative of tank fed or the right way which is mains fed.

In cases like this I get the customer to sign something to say it was their decision if they go for the cheap/ easy option.

Good luck.
