I signed up here to ask about another issue, but I figure while I'm hear I might as well look into something my friend was asking about.

My friend just got a new washing machine. I'm not sure about the exact details of the installation, but apparently the shower pressure has been lower ever since it was installed, even when it is not running.

Anyone have any ideas for where to start looking for the issue? I don't have a good grasp on plumbing, but it seems to me like there would have to be a leak or something for it to cause a lowering of water pressure. Is that right? Is there any other reason the water pressure could be lowered by adding a washing machine?

if the installation is new, then maybe the plumber has not fully reopened the stop tap, or has left you an unseen leak. check stop taps are fully open.
