Hi there!
When I run hot or cold kitchen tap, clean transparent water slowly appears in washing machine - this water smells - have to scoop it out! Not sure if issue is installation - washing machine is sited not far from sink (live in flat and kitchen small). Here is a picture of the piping work under my sink - any ideas why the water starts to fill in washing machine when taps are on? Could it be the inlet or drain hose? When I do a wash in machine there is no issue with water draining out. The issue is when I run the taps which for some reason results in water filling in machine.
Thank you!

Thank you so much Shaun - much appreciated - I will drag out the machine and check the grey drain hose - hopefully this will solve - it only seems to back fill when have the sink taps on! The water is also clean! It doesn't back fill after a wash - infact I have just loaded a second wash! Thank you!

Yes it’s sink water if you look the outlet for the washing machine and the waste pipe the white one going to the back of the sink are at the same height etc

I would be more worried about what looks like an electrical cable running across the bottom of the cabinet.
Hi Mike, this is where our washing machine is plugged in - this is where they sited the socket when washing machine was installed. The machine is quite close to our sink! It's a small kitchen! It's not idea I know but it would require a re-route I guess!

Your washing machine is getting sink water because both drains are connected. The main fix is to lift the washing machine's drain hose higher up before it goes into the pipe - kind of like an upside-down U shape. This stops water from flowing back into the machine. If this doesn't work, you might need a plumber to check for clogs or install better venting.
