I've just had a Vitodens 100-W combination boiler installed yesterday and I've noticed water dripping from the steam Vent - is this OK or is there some malfunction. Would really appreciate if someone could take the time to answer this.

Thanks

when you say the steam vent i presume you mean the flue, which is terminating outside of the house?
if this is so this would be normal on a new condensing boiler.....thats why we call them steamers....very fine line between steam and droplets.....

The flue should be installed so that any steam which condenses should flow back into the boiler rather than drip out of the end. The condensate will be slightly acidic and should really go down the drain rather than drip on to your patio.

Having said that ... if it's just the occasional drop then, as others have said, not really a big problem.

Thank you for replying - it's a continious drip and it also steams continously when in use like a car burning oil. Thats why it concerns me a bit.

The flue should be installed so that there is a continuous fall towards the boiler. If there is any more than an odd drip from the flue it may be worth getting it checked to ensure it has the required gradient. It is possible it may have been installed too flat.

The steam itself is nothing to worry about. It is a condensing boiler and all you are seeing is the flue gasses condensing as it hits the cold air. This is normal.
