when i flush the toilet the toilet screams back at me,when i turn basin tap(cold only)ok until i shut it off, slowly or quickly, makes a noise i can only assume is water hammer,i have reduced incoming cold water pressure by closing stop tap slightley,no difference, most of the pipes are consealed behind tiled walls any ideas

possibly the washers in the taps, could you strip them down and have a look for defaults, apart from that is there anyway you can access the pipes?? they may not be cliped correctly or at all.

well i doubt it is the diaphragm washer then as over 10 years there wont be any left.

putting your tap on low then flush toilet, what happens to sound level?.
