Hi, I have a toilet that is very noisey when flushed. It doesnt happen every time but 8/10 times there is a loud banging in the pipes when flushed. The toilet was put in about two years ago and is a dual flush. Is the water hammer down to a split washer somewhere or the pressure in the pipes? householder says that it only happened after a plumber put a new feed in downstairs for his washing machine? help and advice greatly recieved. Many thanks

If it's just the toilet that causes the noise, change the fill valve. If taps and other things cause it, put more brackets on unsupported pipework, If it still happens then fit a water hammer arrestor.
