Hi All,

I've dug out a trench for a armoured cable that I will be running to the shed. As the trench is dug, I am now considering to send a cold water supply to the shed, just so it's future proofed incase I decide I need one. I was wondering if anyone knows the regs, to questions below.

1) What type and size of pipe would be best used? (20m run)
2) What depth, would the trench for a water pipe be?
3) How far away does a water pipe need to be from a armoured cable, or can they be run together?

Any advise you may have on this would be appriciated, thanks.

hi probably best to use something like 25mm mdpe. should be buried at least 750mm to protect against frost damage. should be alright run together but i stand to be corrected if wrong in any of this.

it would be best to have a soil sample taken and tested, if there are any contaminates in the soil then you may need to use a barrier pipe to stop the water becoming contaminated. or just use 25mm mdpe barrier pipe.
