What is the best all round combi ?

Just thought i would get your thoughts on what you all think

It all depends on how much you want to pay. I have found Vaillant to be superb, but I can't always fit them as the customer isn't always willing to pay for a top of the range boiler. Mid-range, I would use Glowworm. I have found they too are pretty reliable. And I wouldn't even bother with cheap crap like Ravenheat, you'll be forever going back. 😀

i am now totally off combis for ever. good system boiler with a good cylinder (extra tappings for solar or other green sourced energy.
any cast iron boiler. EOGB burner, FLAMCO or MANCO cylinder.

Yes I would agree but a lot of people want a combi and that's it. You can't advise them, because somebody they know has had one and it was so good that they just won't listen to your advice! What has happened to make you hate them so much?

dont hate them. just believe there life is now drawing to an end. only really hate the vaillant but that applies to combi and system, and thats only because of the time spent on the phone to their "technical" service. more like "librarian"service, when they decide to answer the phone after 40mins on hold. rant rant.

to use any green energy, we need a heat exchanger. only way to convert that into hot water effiecently is a cylinder.
in x years when gas runs out, we will all have sytem boilers.

sytem and cylinder, better flow rates, higher pressure. the way forward

and if the clients bests friends mums dogs got a combi and their brilliant, id suggest to them "well why not go one up on the jones"

The combi boiler is a great bit of kit but the trouble is it has been abused,because they are easy to fit,,stick on the wall and away you go builders and others have fitted them in siduations they should never be in
