hi guys i have a job on next week to replace an old leaky 8 gallon f and e tank which is feeding a 100-115 litre hot water cylinder (there was no label on the cylinder so i am guessing the litreage by the size of the cylinder) havent seen any 8 gallon tanks but was gonna replace it with a 4 gallon as a 25 gallon is the next size one up i have seen. maybe i need to shop around a bit more. anyway the property is a 1 bed flat with an electric shower, there is no shower being feed off the cylinder just 3 taps. will a 4 gallon do the job? cheers in advance

No a 4 gallon is too small. It will run out of water when filling a bath.

A 4 gallon will probably do the job then Steve. I wouldn't fit one tho.

Take a look at polytank, they have lots of odd sized tanks to fit in tight spots. Use them often when replacing galvanised tanks in cylinder cupboards

Yep - Polytank do a 12 gall and a 15 gall tank, although you may have to order it specially. In my part of the world, I have never seen one, but there are regional variations on what has been fitted historically.

no there is a bath, but the problem is space for the tank as its in the top part of a cupboard and near enough jammed to the ceiling with no room for a bigger tank. the ballcock( i cant even reach this) has not been set at the right level or has moved itself over the years so is rising to high, letting a bit of water run through the overflow which has been solvent welded to the tank( lord knows why they did this rather then use the nut provided). it then leaks from this joint and numerous others. i was just going to replace the whole lot but now seems i may just reuse the tank with a new ballcock and overflow connection
