Hi guys I went to service an ideal deal logic 30kw today. I did the service analysed the flue and everything was fine apart from the fact the vertical flue was only 100mm away from an adjacent wall instead of 300mm as it should be? I informed the customer that it was wrong and filled out the at risk paperwork and got it signed etc. the trouble is there isn't really any other way to re route the flue so I left the boiler up and running. Is this ok? The flue looks fine and and is well supported. It goes up through a glass roof and would probably need the roof to be altered to change it?

Id appreciate your thoughts.

cheers guys.

AR and turn off, up to the customer to run the risk or not. Did u double check the MI's?

It is room sealed and not near any openings but the manufacturers instructions do state 300mm. So I suppose that is what it must be? I don't make the rules obviously but it dose not look dangerous to me.

^^ I'd go with that too^^

#4.

Engineering judgement. You ARE still allowed to use it (for the time being anyway)

Having read others posts and checked by book I'd agree with NCS.

Thanks guys. So basically it can stay as it is just got to be documented?

Agree it is NCS. Its not been fitted correctly but there is no risk of any danger. If it was too close to an opening (window or door etc) then you would have a case to AR it if you thought there was a chance of POC entering the building.

If you are unsure ring gas safe and speak to someone. I've done it in the past and nothing to be ashamed about.

Another one for NCS. If not near any opening & your FGA figures are correct there is no risk here.

You state there was no other way to run the flue as per MI's. There would have been if the installer done his job correctly and fitted the boiler in a suitable location.

Not going to lie, did have a sarky muppet the one out of two times I've spoken to them. The other time was fine though.
