Went to give a second opinion on an ideal Logic+ combi today. The wiring loom has previously overheated and nearly burnt through the PCB electronics casing. Wiring loom repaired with insulation tape but not replaced.

Noticed when removing boiler that it's missing a case screw and so case can be opened just by pulling on the bottom right.

I put the boiler down as AR and acted accordingly as having seen it I didn't feel comfortable leaving it as it looks like it's already tried to catch fire once.

What would you do?? I've never AR or ID'd a boiler before so wondered if I made a good decision.

If case is closed and intact at the time then can only really be AR so good call.
I keep a few machine screws handy for these in particular as loads in my area.

Every time I take a boiler out or I get spare screws bolts etc when I change the parts they go straight into a little box.

Nothing worse than dropping a screw and watching it go down the only hole in the floorboards.
