Traditionaly a boiler is a device used to heat water to produce steam to power things like a steam train, why are boilers in houses called boilers they don't boil anything just water heaters

The word boiler comes from the old latin Roman word for boulrus,this was a clay block,hollowed out and filled with scented oils that were wormed and massaged into the high ranking members of the household on cold winter nights,it was found that they also heated the surrounding areas,so they started placing them around the dwellings for warmth and they also released pleasant fragrances

Archeologists have recently discovered a few of these 'boulrus' blocks in very good condition however as no manufacturers instructions were found they are unable to use them any more

On the bottom of one block was the name of the manufacturer,valliantus ,which gave them hope of getting mi but when they tried ringing ,they could never get through

Why use the word whay when asking why, when why is the correct way to ask why not whay unless your asking whay are boilers called boilers which asks not why but whay which has a meaning of what?

Like the words for loo. None of them actually mean what they are used for in modern speak

"Toilet" comes from "toilette" and is the act of dressing, washing and grooming oneself
"Lavatory" comes from the latin "lavate" meaning to wash, and literally means a place of washing
"Loo" comes from the french "l'Eau" meaning water, or possibly "lieu" meaning "place" hence a colloquialism for somewhere with water where one would wash, or the place to do ones business.
"Water Closet" or WC is the room or cupboard where the Water Closet pan would be

Really the only technically correct term for what you are thinking about is "WC Pan and Cistern". The other terms don't really mean what people use them to describe.
