Hi, so for a while now I've started to notice puddles forming in the bathroom floor coming from the back wall where the toilet is. I don't think it's a leak, though the condensation appears really severe in this area. The copper pipe that runs along the same back wall is always really wet and I can see large droplets formulating. I have little long boxes underneath and they fill with water. Also the toilet cistern that is against the wall gets very wet on the outside and I notice lots of water forming on the toilet rim below it.

I dry up the watery puddles, but they seem to come back not long after. Can anyone think of an explanation as to why this condensation might be so bad? Also what can I do to prevent it? The heating is always on, but usually the window is open in the bathroom.

It’s one of them winter cold water eg around 5dc coming into a warm / hot steamy bathroom

You could try cutting and sticking a yoga mat internally to the cistern eg try and insulate the cistern

hey Chuck, the room is heated via a towel heater rack, there is also the boiler cupboard next to the toilet. The small window is usually open most times for ventilation. Never got bad condensation like this before, started around 3 or 4 months ago. Would foam lagging help on the pipes?

Have you checked if the internal siphon is running into your WC? If it is a push button flush the siphon seal could be passing making the water in the cistern to remain at the same temperature as the outside temp hence lots of condensation. To check hold a piece of loo paper at the back of the wc bowl. If the loo paper gets soaked your siphon seal is leaking. Replace the seal and you’ll be good to go. If you have a lever siphon then you might have a passing float valve. Same result.

Hope this helps.

Yes it is a push button. The back of the loo is butted up to the wall so I can't get to it, though I will investigate the passing float valve. Thanks
