Wilo or Grundfoss..

I've had 3 hot water pumps blow this week. 2 Grundfoss and 1 Wilo sb30 on secondary return pipes. Not much difference in price. But most of the common plumbing branches only seem to stock Grundfoss. Are they generally a better brand of pump?

You will get many different answers on that. Mine is Grundfoss, probably just cos they are in just about everything. lol.

I have fitted many wilo pumps in the past and have had had no problems to date however I have not fitted any of the new class a wilos. Equally have fitted lots of grundfoss of both the new a class type and their predecessor and they have also given me no trouble. So for me it would come down to price and availability as I think they are fairly equal in quality.

Prefer wilo if honest cheaper, a rated don't go wrong plus they have five years apposed to grunny 2. Only fit grunny when it's a direct head swap nowerdays.

I really like the new Wilos, not had one fail yet... Not specified a Grundfos for a while on a new install, can't really justify the cost!
Fitted a pair of Wilo Stratos Picos today driving a pair of smallish heat mains, the amount of power they draw is tiny 🙂

I'm using Lowara pumps at the moment but have got a Grundfos 15 60 tucked away as a spare for combis.

if you get the grundfoss 2ups make sure you get the suppressor lead with it or it could weld programmer contacts - grondfoss have not made this general knowledge but are supplying merchants with mod lead

Not heard this yet that sounds bad news as we always fit grundfoss. A bit like last year we had loads of honeywell programmers go down, think your buying the best and you just look stupid.

I've had loads of knackered Wilos , but this was on a H/A contract. Secondary return pumps are a different animal altogether.
