Hi

I'm looking for advice on how i might wire up a condensate pump i've recently bought. It has four wires - brown, blue, and two black. The instructions state that 'a high-level cut out should be wired into the control circuit to prevent the continued operation of the boiler in the event of the pump failing'. The two black wires are also tagged together with a label saying 'hi-level cut out max load 4 amp'.

I'm thinking the brown and blue i can fix to a 3-pin plug with 1 amp fuse (the instructions say an inline fuse). However, unsure how to wire the black ones.

Not sure if relevant, but there is an electric kettle-type plug at the other end of the four wires - this connects to the pump.

Any advice much appreciated.

Believe the black wires interupt the switch live to the boiler
As said if pump fails, condensate level will rise to a high level in pump unit ,activating a cut out which will break the power to the boiler, thus stopping operation of boiler and stopping any more condensate being produced, thus avoiding leakage from pump unit
However it will not stop rain water or melting snow running through boiler into unit and overflowing
It is optional but if you are really worried would wire in a sound alarm warning system aswell, this can be done through a relay so if relay powered down, alarm will activate, have mentioned this to manufactorers of one makes, would not cost much,so maybe soon they may take it up and that can be my claim to fame but then again maybe not, until someone sticks in a regulation,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

How would i interupt the live switch to the boiler? Should i connect the two black to the boiler using the same terminals i use for the boiler's wired thermostat?

One of the black wires is live when the pump is plugged in.
