Evening chaps. I had to replace a danfos hsa 3 mid position today as no hot water. Also as part of it I also had to replace the cylinder star. Problem is I have no idea on the wiring on that and it was ancient with no wiring diagrams. There's l,n & pe. I was getting 240 on both l&n when satisfied and 240 on l when calling. I have a honey well to stick in there but wondered if anyone can give me a clue of what wire are needed and to where. Thanks in advance. I can't post pics as apparently they exceed the file size.

That's my point. I haven't replaced the stat. The cylinder was maxed out on temp as they'd the immersion on. I have switched that off and said call me tomorrow. My college diagnosed it and is away so can't speak to him. As I say, I'm getting power but not sure which wire goes where if I do get a call back an need to change it.

L,N and earth just means you have a 3 core cable.
dont assume the colours mean anything.

Its a mid position so W Plan,
depening on whats happening there will be power on all 3 at some point.
you need to follow a wiring guide so you can see what is happening.
or at least its replace like for like???

Like said below , colours mean nothing in stats , although earth cable should only be used as earth , by the sounds of it your live is your common and blue / black is your calling , on the honeywell stat = live / into C common and blue into number 1 , last cable into 2
common is wired from timmer and other 2 from zone valve , call for heat , heat satisfied,
If not sure get a qualified spark or engineer

look in the wiring centre. If its a Y-plan the new Honeywell cylinder thermostat will connect up common to HW ON terminal on programmer, 1 will connect to the same terminal as the orange of the valve and 2 will connect to the same terminal as the grey of the valve.

Y plan quite right, whats happened to the edit tab?

Thanks for all your responses. It did have to be replaced in the end but typically one of our subbies ended up doing it as I wasn't in the area.
