Leadbetter

Hello!!! been to a boiler break down, boiler fires up for both ch and hw demand and then cuts out after 10 mins, I soon discovered the vertical flue was mad hot, got in the loft dismantled the section of flue (once it had cooled down ) and a seal had perrished on the inner flue, I re assembled to find the problem had not been solved and the rubber seal was not making a seal, it's quit hard to describe the job and I have no photos, but basically the seal must keep popping out when I put it back to gether and due to the outer flue obviously covering the inner flue I am struggling with what to do , I have tried lube and ha the thing in and out loads of times and still no joy, I was thinking maybe cut the outer flue and slide it up to access the problem and then reconnecting with a socket (extension socket for flues) any 1 ever come across a problem like This? Thanks

Yes but not with specific model....

Iner flue seal can become less pliable, kind of dry out.. mostly in none condensing boilers! In some cased quite brittle! I'd imagine closer rather than futher away from the boiler?

Bye- the way, hard to check but did you check all the way to termination section Leadbetter?

For got to mention ,,, when I re assembled the flue I had replaced the rubber seal with a new 60mm rubber flue seal, (it was a raven heat flue seal as the merchants could not get a Worcester one or it wasn't in stock, but they advised me this would be perfectly Ok )

Yes very close to the boiler, from where the seal was damaged to the boiler was red hot, about 1.5ft , any surgestions ?

Sounds like you may have to replace a section of the flue if you can't get the seal, which is doubtfull ......... Also Sounds like a nightmare job though Leadbeter like theres something else niggling?

I'd be considering replacing the section of flue leadbetter if you can't get the exact seal and this is what keeps popping out. Have you rang worcester for advice?

Not ye that's my next port of call, thanks for the advice all keep you up dated with what happens,,, NIGHT MARE JOB HAHAA thanks again mate

think you might find yourself in the brown stuff mate. You cannot use seals off other appliances bud. It would be an idea to cover yourself and replace with the correct one.

Realy ?? It seemed to fit in perfect and the staf at the merchants where adamant it would be fine, but now u have said that I think I may replace so am 100% sure thanks mate,,, hate jobs like these lol

Think id trust the manufacture over merchants on advice, as raven heat and Worcester are not in the same league.
