Hi,

new to this forum hope you can help, I have a WB Greenstar 18ri noticed no hot water and when tried to fire up heating the blue light was on however no green light at the heater.
I switch the system off and reset, turning on blue light on then increased the temp setting to max and boiler fired up , green light on 20-30 secs then an empty pumping sound and a gurgle noise , green light went off and blue light on to flashing. Many attempts at this and same scenario.
Water is flowing ok both upstairs and kitchen, switched gas system off and switched on immersion to test hot water boiler all working and I have hot water.
My basic so far. I do think it is the boiler although only fitted in April 2008 and was serviced in Jan this year.
Any advice appreciated WB want £285 for a call out🙁

Check the heating / hot water circuit has water in it, if it's a pressurised system there will be a gauge with a filling loop somewhere or if it's an open vented system you should have a small water tank possibly in the loft - this should have water in it.

Yes small tank in loft has water in it and the ball valve is working as pushed down and water functioned

Could be airlock in boiler, try venting through small rubber tube at top of boiler - although this does involve removing the outer casing.

Looks as if the pump has gone no spinning just buzzing and did have a port problem with the rad in bathroom on whilst CH has been off all summer so getting valve changed as well.
At least happened now rather than winter 😱

i would get a local engineer out - he will charge less than the worcestor offer - the worcestor offer is good if it the pcb or something else expensive but a new pump and fitted could be done for 160ish.

worcestors are nice to work on and have good technical support imo so most local engineers can figure them out.
