Worcester greenstar 25cdi no hot water. This boiler has been stood drained down for 2 and a half years. New homeowner asked me to go round and check the water and boiler was ok. Turn on tap and boiler will fire up. 2 minutes later the boiler starts knocking very loud and shuts off. Any ideas? Thanks

Does the heating work? Sounds like a blockage potentially? 1st thoughts! What tests you done so far?

sounds like a blockage. did you get rid of all air when refilling?

Heating works great. I haven't done much tbh, never worked on a Worcester before so thought I'd get people's thoughts before I start. Filled up all rads, pressurised boiler, checked charge on expansion vessel, tightness tested gas, checked supply pressure, turned heating on heating worked, turned tap on and water ran hot for 90 secs or so but then banging noise starts and boiler shuts off. No error code flashes up

Defo a blockage! How did they drain the boiler? Did they just turn the water off and drain the rads, of so I'd suspect a plate hex

What are the FGA readings like??

I knows boilers make a god awful sound when the readings are out and the boiler will go off if the readings are off.

Check the little diverter valve moves up & down fully freely... It's been sat in the same posistion for 2 years, might be stuck lol

I would be inclined to fit a new plate H/E wouldn't bother just cleaning it for the ball ache it is to get it out.
