Had 4 of these now with faulty fan, go to boiler with reported fault (Not Fan) switch off main power to boiler, do repair , switch power back on, POP fan blows, is it me or has anyone else had this problem ??

I've had a few of these go on me as well. One thing I have learnt... switch the boiler off at the on/off button first before isolating at switched fused spur. Same in reverse order, as a power surge can blow the fan.

Good to know things like this. Havn't had this one myself yet but helpfull info, thanks

Thanks Merv will try that next time ! poor design by worcester, wounder if any other boilers have same problem ???

Some of the glowworms cxi and hxi, I've had this where when the power is switched back on it kills the board.

Worcester have upgraded the design. Think the old p/n ends 4530. Just make sure when you buy a replacement it's the upgrade and not the old stock

Make's you wounder what is going on with so call'd modern reliable boilers, they seam to have built in faults, is this just to make money on replacement parts ! surely not.:laugh3:

Some of the new Worcester Greenstars don't have a power switch on the control board anymore -=[ ... Im guessing they took it away so the boiler had to be isolated at the spur, for safety reasons maybe!! I prefer it with the switch tho =[

Has anyone found out what actually blows in the Worcester fan, I took the cover off the last one and it had a capacitor of some type looked to have blown. I wondered if it was the same component each time, because the motor and the rest of it all seem okay.

Maybe I've been lucky but the only greenstrar fan I've replaced was due to water backing up through thehex, as it had been conneced to a rainwater downpipe.

I have never had one go on me when servicing, and I have serviced alot of them. I have had one knackered straight out the box, and one blow within a week of fitting but that is out of a few hundred of which I have installed or been involved in the install so not too bad really.
