Hi everyone, I am new to this so please bear with me!! Perhaps someone could give me advice. My Range Powermax is giving probs again and yes of course at the worse possible time. Had it approx 7 yrs and although fine when it is working it has given loads of probs. Looking to have a new boiler and heading towards a Worcester Greenstar 42CDI. However Vaillant also have a good reputation and would be grateful if anyone has any views from experience. I am also looking to resiting the boiler from upstairs to kitchen so again any advice welcome. Thank you in anticipation.

Both are very good makes of boiler, its really very close between them. Its almost flick a coin, its like audi or bmw

I would say hmmmm......... Vaillant!

Even though i fitted a worcester in my own house, at the mo vaillant just edge it for me

Thanks for your comment. Did u find it straightforward to fit the boiler yourself? Why do u prefer the vaillant?

I find it straightforward to fit because im a heating engineer, but these are two boilers that are straight forward to work on for anyone, you find that cheap boilers are just that, cheap and nasty to work on. these brand of boilers are considered like the bmw or audis of the boiler world

Why does vaillant just edge it for me? Its hard to say, its very close. Had a couple of issues with worcesters recently where new boilers have been missing small thinks like the clear piece of plastic that covers the on off switch and a leaking prv that need replacing when the boiler was brand new out of the box. Both times i thought their customer service was lacking

'our engineer will deliver the parts out in 2-3 days'
'I nor the customer will be here then'
'then you will just have to wait for it' etc etc

these are minor things but when you consider how much money my company spends with worcester each year you'd expect them to jump to

Thanks again for ur comments. I would agree with ur last comment. Don't understand why some companies become complacent. Maybe your company should now fit Valliants!!! A little more research seems to suggest the stainless steel heat exchanger that Valliant use is a better choice. Have you ever fitted an Avanta Plus boiler from Remehaheating? These seem to be even more reliable and robust. Any thoughts? Thanks again for your time.

hi, i have fit many remeha boilers, are good for their price but be aware of warranty, they are now part of the baxi group called bdr thermea.
i now fit intergas, they have far less moving parts so less to go wrong
www.intergasheating .co.uk

Never fitted intergas or remeha, so cant comment

Baxi, potterton, glowworm, vaillant, worcester are the common brands i fit, each have good and bad points, most of these companies are changing and evolving their products all the time to stay on top of their game.

Just have to weigh up your options and pick which is best for you. Do you know who you want to fit your boiler? Have they got an opinon?

IMO you cant go too far wrong with the brands ive just mentioned, but im sure other enginneers might disagree depending on their experience with those boilers

Thanks for your advice and knowledge. Will have to go away and ponder now!!

The thing that swings me is I did about half a dozeb Worcs fans last Winter, called out to 1 Vaillant which was only low pressure and a leaky AAV..... Viessmann?
