Y Plan to Combi conversion

Will this work and are there any known problems?? as this seems the most practical way of doing a Y plan to combi conversion when siting the boiler in the loft?

Combi in loft, Connect flow to flow pipe (b port inlet), connect return to return off cylinder (or try and locate flow & return microbore manifold). Cold feed already in loft for combi. Cap off flow and return on reg boiler.

HW
Connect DHW feed off combi to existing hot distribution pipe off cylinder. Cold feed already in loft for Combi.

Obviousley remove existing Y plan system, tanks and cyllinders.

Will be having a mixer shower, so dedicated hot feed for shower with machine bends only.

check mains pressure for combi in loft should be ok.

bring flow and return down from loft, remove the prim flow and return and re-pipe the flow and return to rads up to the pipes coming from loft.
dhw would then be brought down from combi to the 22mm feed from top of (removed) cylinder, remove the vent pipe and tanks. not as easy as it sounds but yeah you have the jist of things.

things to think about - renewing the 22mm hot pipework to 15mm for bath. can help with flow problems.

and also getting the gas pipe up into loft - pipe sizing has to be correct.

thermostatic shower no need to worry about dedicated hot feed.

cant really understand what you mean ,but dont connect to any port valves for circs,are you fit a clyinder,if so the clyinder would just like a rad,with 2 port vavle/cylinder stat

My only concern is the reg boiler in the garage, would it be better to cap off or even connect th eflow and return? thanks for your input by the way!🙂

well the flow and return from the old boiler would probably be taken out of the circuit in the airing cupboard and then all the pipe work from old boiler to airing cupboard could be removed. otherwise just cap off or all the flow and return pipework would be heated to the garage wasting energy. in general try and sort it out in airing cupboard matey.
