Additional system filter ???

guys , I fit Magna pro 2’s and love them but I have two customers where I am pretty sure the towel rails are releasing cra* into the system and the filter is missing it because its not magnetic.
Any off you fitted a strainer as well as a mag filter ??

I usually use either spirotec or flamco filter. I don’t use a strainer when having a good Magna filter.

I know of two boilers which have had strainers fitted and both suffered from total heating failure due to them blocking up, the gauze is far to fine and collect far to much smaller particles. The gauze was swiftly removed..

Yes I can see that happening, I have no idea round this , are the gauze all one size ?

Yer I know , 2 towel rails in this house expensive tiled floors , major works . Doesn’t seem to happen with rads .

I would recommend the spirotech magnetic filter.
It filters to something small, very small.

Haven’t looked pal , customer didnt look happy when I suggested they may have to be changed

I didn’t ask but if they are £60 screwfix ones that’s probably the problem.

Had it happen to me bud I always flush em now before I fit them no reason why you cant fit a strainer as well. Kop

Yes thats what I was thinking , but surely could only go on the towel rail return, rather than the heating return back to the boiler. Just look a Twa*.

Either tbh just need cleaning regular for the first few days if it’s that bad

That is what worrys me , I have a feeling its going to be on forever lol , cut a towel rail in half next time you take one off , you will know what I mean

Agree , existing one is only about 2 years old. I will look into filter mesh sizes and report back.

It's sold as a total system filter but doesn't have a specific filter for non magnetic particles. Instead it apparently traps non mag particles along with magnetic particles using its "hydrocyclonic design".

Hydrocyclonic eh? For sure Dyson has a patent on it somewhere.
I like the TF1 Omega but I've taken the magnet off it and a Spirotech in the past and it still managed to trap a fair bit. Mostly it's down to low velocity turbulance created so the particles fall out of suspension irrespective of whether there's a magnet or not imo.

So I was intrigued about this and so I looked at what came out of a tf1 omega today to see for myself (Sad, I know). You get 2 "drawings" of particles from the filter, the first is entirely non magnetic the second is mostly magnetic. I kept them seperate. I have attached pics. The lighter plate is entirely non magnetic. The darker plate is mostly magnetic. A magnet was used to pick up the mag particles for demo. So it does trap some non mag. Probably just by creating a low pressure zone and allowing gravity to pull the bits out. As @gmartine says above.
