Discuss Adult / Part Time courses - North Herts/South Cambs in the Plumbing Courses and Training area at PlumbersForums.net

Hello all,

I'm looking for an adult course to do the NVQ2 C&G around my current job. Has anyone used or can recommend training providers in my area (North Herts/South Cambdrigeshire) where I can do the course part time? Ideally somewhere that has other adults - I'm 38 and career changing from an accountant.

I've settled on this level to be the best place to start as I am semi experienced in plumbing on the DIY - I can fit bathrooms, kitchens, add radiators, underfloor heating and of course solder pipe together.

If anyone knows of any companies in the this area I should be talking to for future employment that would be great. My plan was to complete the level 2 and then try and find employment to do the level 3 and then specialise after that.

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt, wondering how you got on with your career change. Did you go through with it? Did you find employment?

I'm around the same age and currently considering a similar move.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I'm afraid I have had little luck. I contacted training colleges around this area and none had evening courses, only day time.

One college said it is extremely difficult to get into and plumbers require substantial training and I would need to basically work for nothing for 2 years to get the level 2 and 3 quals (im level 7 qualified in another field).
