Hi All.

Does anyone know if pipes can burst in cold winter weather even if heating is left on low in a house not occupied ?.

Thanks

Moira

It depends on where the pipes are, how well insulated etc. I've seen pipes freeze in occupied properties because of a gap in the insulation and catching a northerly wind.

seen many a pipe freeze but not leak because the ice forms a plug then when the thaw comes pours out all over the place bet a few people will come home from work in the next few days to a fish pond in the house
