Discuss Mixing Vertical and Horizontal Combi Flue in the Gas Engineers Forum area at PlumbersForums.net

My installation has been classed as Dangerous 'Do not use' by my boiler manufacturer. I have an Ideal Logic 30kw Combi boiler mounted as high as can be on the kitchen wall. Flue exits out through the wall via an elbow but emerges above a flat roof. Unfortunately it's somewhat less than the regulation 300mm above.
I had suggested just fitting a couple of concentric elbows with a vertical concentruc length outside the wall to raise the horizontal terminal higher than the 300mm requirement. However, I'm told by my installer that Ideal says it can't be done on a fan room sealed flue!?
Ideal have told my installer the only option is to extend the flue vertically from the boiler up through the ceiling and into our bathroom then elbow out through the wall under the sink.
This would obviously be a big upheaval for us and would need a second hole knocking through the wall and I would have to box it in finally.
Does anyone have any experience of mixing horizontal and vertical concentric flues like I suggested outside of a building? Why can't it be done?

Someone else might be able to confirm, I can’t remember if Ideal allow white on show (thinking they don’t), shame you can’t just 90 bend it up then 90 out (similar to how it is now).

Can I ask why ideal was out and I’m guessing flat roof ?

I took those photos!
Looks like the only option is the flue through the ceiling and elbow out through the wall under our bathroom sink. At least it's our installer that has to do it and foot the bill. Don't know what mess it's going to make of our bathroom though!
