hi, we have a monobloc tap that is getting old, few years ago had the heads changed to ones with a leaver (for elderly person with artheritis) however now it has started leaking/ dripping, 1. tiny leak from the grub screw on back of the tap and 2. constant drip from tap itself, if we have the tap turned inline with the main body of the tap it drips ever 10 seconds if we have it turned on an angle e.g, to point into the sink, it drips every 2 seconds. Anyway i have thought about replacing the tap but cant really understand the tails, i know its m10 m12 but iv heard some people say that flexys just "screw in" and some say that you solder copper tails and others say that copper tails screw in. could anyone point me in the right direction as how the tails fit? under sink we have 2 usual feeds, (h&c) and 15mm isolation valves then 2 copper tails come up from the valves at 15mm tapering into 10/12mm then are soldered in. looking at the valves i know im going to have something compression fit into the valves but its how to get them into tap, solder, screw... Iv not done alot of plumbing but what i have done is generaly gone well. Any advise is welcome thanks.

the tails all screw in whether copper or flexi to solder in would be near impossible unless before fitted as said all tails are screwed

the tails come with the new taps matey - so when you go buy them check what comes with them - flexis are a lot more frequent than they used to be if so - fit the taps and screw the 1/2" bsp female thread onto the isolation valve - not ideal but easiest for you.

q-plumb, when you say screw flexis onto isolation valve, do the flexy tails come with one end m10/12 for screwing into tap and one end 1/2"bsp thread or normal 15mm compression? so that the flexy connects to a pipe? if so, could i just take some 15mm copper pipe out of isolation valve and into the compression end of the flexy?

most taps that come with flexis come with a 1/2 bsp female thread - so if youve got copper coming up off the iso valve - put a 15mm male iron on the copper and thread the female from tail onto it.

get the taps you want matey - im pretty sure you'll know what your doing once you see what they are and what comes with it..
