Hi

I hope someone can advise a solution,
My builder completed building and installing a wet room in a front porch, This is just a week old and I am getting drain odour coming out from the wet room grill or waste outlet, The smell is not sewage but waste water from the main drain outside, I wonder if there is any solution to get rid of the odour either using a covering on the wet room waste grill or something else

Thanks

Welcome,

I would wonder why you are getting an odour from the drain doesn't sound like its right .Otherwise you would just be trying to mask the problem .

you say your builder did the wetroom for you, as in he did it or did he have a plumber who works for him?

Might be becase the outside drain pipe is less than two meter away and the odour is sucked inside ?

The solution to your problem is simple.

Have a trap installed.
Have a vent installed.
Have both installed.

The reality is, if the job is complete, you may have to gain access to the drains to rectify.
Not looking great if you are having smells after only a week.

I was going to say if it's a builder I bet there is no trap

Not 100% definite Way to check but if you pop your fingers down the drain then there should be an amount of water still in there. This is the water seal which should prevent unpleasant smells coming back up from the drain. There may be no water and this could be because The builder has used A different sort of in-line trap Or there is inadequate ventilation and the water trap is being sucked out when The shower or other appliances are used. The only way to know if a trap is installed for sure is to lift the tray
