Any considerations for the following issue please reply.

Plumber started today, he is installing an upgrade to a 20yr old system,

new dual coil cyl, three zones, one for broom rads, one for hot water and one for rads in kitchen area.

there is an aga feed for hot water into the cyl,

the idea was simply to maintain the aga feed for hot water as it was, and do the rest of the work above.....

Problem is, on the flow and return for the Aga feed to the cylinder the pipe seems to continue on down under the floor! now, to make things worse, as at this stage the plumber thought it maybe feeds a rad for excess hot water.... or maybe at the outset it feeds a hot tap.... who knows...

He has cut the pipe, and there is a positive feed.... like a small amount of continuous feed coming from this pipe! indication is that it is fed by domestic feed! you may ask..... all three of us ask the same question!

Please anyone who may have seen this type before please do tell.... what or where could it be coming from?

I have indicated to the plumber the previous house owner was a "special" type of guy.... it could be anything.... we are looking like capping it off and going back one step to a more practical design as above! seeing if then something doesnt work! or heat or maybe when he pressurises the vent goes nuts.....

just for any of you more experienced specialist types.... can you think of anything?

many thanks
Peter

oh yes, did i mention that there is a high likelyhood that wherever this pipe goes that it is fed and therefore to a degree feeding either hot or cold water domestic use! the odd time we get dirty water, not to mention skin iritations since moving in....

still, ideas please!

sounds like to best soultion is to rip it all out and repipe it all correctly. if you have contaminated water supplies then they will need cleaning out.

I am really really hoping that this is not what happens! this plumber is an experienced one! running in some new pipes is indeed what we are doing but if i have to rip up a solid wood feature floor it will be my last option.....

i really was hoping someone woudl have an idea what would feedback water the way it is doing under very low pressure.... but it seems to be just a very poor job done by previous owner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Maybe the previous owner was an enthusiastic B&Q'er or trade forum surfer. Peter.
Even the most experienced guy can be confounded by a diy'er.

Have you got any pics of pipe work that might help explain the current layout?

i assume the flow and return off the aga are gravity? continually rise and have its feed and vent pipework connected in the air cupboard above?

anything teed off and going down is normally going to be heating pipework running off a pump on the return. if you run the water through the pipe your unsure about does it effect tank or system water levels?

Just about to go home and see how things went! i would agree he may have had a diy day! the pics would be no use... as the pipe runs straight down under the floorboard, lifted a few and took a look but the pipe runs up and down hallway.... so its really hard to figure out what its doing with out ripping up.

I will post an update tomorrow, cheers guys.
